This is not only for nostalgic ones. But the fact is that Cabaret is still a very well performed genre in London’s nightclubs. We asked two of the most celebrated performers in town to answer this question and explain us a bit about the flirt of experimentation with the tradition.

“I think cabaret is a space where experimentation and entertainment combine. Queer cabaret can be both challenging and whimsical. Traditional and neo feed off each other. For myself it’s important that my work is funny and entertaining as well as political therefore cabaret is more exciting than “performance art” which is often serious and self referential”.  Bird La Bird

“Cabaret means to me being able to be creative, playing with gender. Experimenting with the dark side of life and making your performance something for the audience to think about; taking traditional cabaret and giving it a twist and not conforming to mainstream”. Miss Kimberley
