A chat with Naechanè Valentino about the work, practice and future:

How do you see your own artwork?

Naechanè Valentino

I see my artwork as an evolution of expression. As I change, my art subsequently changes.

How would you describe your own practice?

I would describe my art as an expression of life through music. My music is heavily influenced by my experiences and observations.

Are there any external factors that help you creatively?

They are a lot of external factors which help shape my creativity, a highlight of which are the sociological issues I witness through my ongoing work with young people. As a mentor, I find it very rewarding to see their growth; this in turn helps me to focus on my skill.

How do you look at reinventing yourself or reflect progression in your work?

I find that I’m constantly reinventing myself. I do this by revisiting the things that influence my passion and greatly consider how any changes I make may influence those influenced by my expressionism. I believe progression comes naturally.

What are the most important themes and elements that feed into your creativity?

The most important factor that feeds my creativity is LIFE; we are all mere residents on this earth and our experiences shape who we are and what we become.

Can you describe the creative process behind the work and how it works for you?

The creative progress behind my work is simple. I love the fact that my work allows me to be free and expressive without boundaries. I use my art to illuminate factors that are socially controversial in a bid to essentially encourage change.

How would you like yourself or your work to be known?

I would love to be known as an individual who held no limitations where the practice of values are concerned. I pride myself on being versatile and grounded; my work within the community will always shape who I am. I love the work I do within my community and will always strive to deliver the very best for as long as I have breath.

Any single wish?

I suppose my main wish is to be a legendary house-hold name that inspired the careers of many.

Many thanks Naechanè and best wishes from GFEST team.
