GFEST – Gaywise FESTival, recognised as ‘London’s LGBT & Queer Festival for all’ had a launch reception in the UK Parliament last week. David Lammy, MP, hosted the launch reception for GFEST 2010 and the event was attended by Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone,  South Bank Centre’s artistic director Jude Kelly and Margot James, MP.

The festival received messages of support from the Prime Minister David Cameron, Mayor of London Boris Johnson and the past & present Ministers for Culture and Arts, including Jeremy Hunt and Ed Vaizey.

GFEST 2010 events started on 8 November and exciting art events are planned for every day during the following 2 weeks until 21 November.

SOME KEY EVENTS: GFEST 2010 film events at Rich Mix on 11, 12, 13 Nov, Performances at Cochrane Theatre on 18, 19, 20 Nov, Debate at V & A on 16 Nov and Parties in various venues are some of the exciting attractions.

GFEST 2010 Visual Arts Exhibition is at Hampstead Town Hall & a Special Exhibition based on ’15 min of Same Sex Kiss installation in Trafalgar Square’ is presented by GFEST artistic director Niranjan Kamatkar in Westminster Ref Library.

The organisers of the festival have appealed to artists, art enthusiasts, tourist visiting to the UK capital and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT)  community members to help spread a word and attend the exciting events.
