GFest 09 submissions screening & selection process was the highlight here last week, following from the deadline on 29 June.

Majority of entries demonstrated a very high artistic quality. The GFest 09 Selection Panel had an arduous task at hand of choosing appropriate ones after carefully going through hundreds of entries that came from across the world.

I thought the Panel was doing a marvellous and near impossible job with a degree of fairness, consistent clarity & swift dedicated approach, overcoming any minor technical hurdles that we faced during the selection meetings.

Visit GFest site & blogs / social-media sites for more news & updates on GFest 09 programme which looks stronger, more exciting and promises to be challenging than ever before. We plan to announce the full GFest 09 programme by July end. GFest 09 dates: 9 -22 Nov 2009.

Post the third GFest 09 selection meeting on Friday, I rushed to meet Sunil Babu Pant – first out gay MP from Nepal – who was in London for an environment conference. The meeting was made remarkable by a single factor- that soft spoken Sunil seemed focused on working towards LGBT equality in Nepal and articulated his special interest area very well: Environment & Climate Change. All the best to him and it’s a high time for him to take charge of Nepal’s Ministry for Environment.
